Afro-Academic, Cultural Technological and Scientific Olympics
ACT-SO - (Chair Person: Vernell Savage)
ACT-SO (Afro-Academic, Cultural Technological and Scientific Olympics) is a major youth initiative of the NAACP. The late Vernon Jarrett as an opportunity founded it in 1978 for African American youth to demonstrate academic, artistic and scientific prowess. ACT/SO conducts annual academic competitions for students in grades 9 through 12 in NAACP Branches throughout the country.
